Dungarvin is seeking a full-time Mental Health Specialist II to join our Acute Behavioral Services team in Rochester, MN. In this role, you'll provide direct clinical support to individuals in crisis, help stabilize acute mental health situations, and connect people with the resources they need to recover and thrive.
Position Summary
As a Mental Health Specialist II in Acute Behavioral Services, you'll work at the frontline of mental health crisis response in Rochester. You'll conduct initial assessments, implement crisis intervention protocols, and collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and care coordinators to deliver safe, trauma-informed care. This is a full-time position where you make an immediate, tangible difference in people's lives during their most vulnerable moments.
What You'll Do
- Perform comprehensive mental health and behavioral assessments for individuals presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms
- Implement evidence-based de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques in fast-paced clinical settings
- Develop and execute treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical care team
- Maintain accurate, detailed clinical documentation and progress notes
- Monitor and report on client progress, safety concerns, and clinical changes
- Provide psychosocial support and therapeutic interaction to stabilize acute presentations
- Assist with discharge planning and community resource coordination
Who We're Looking For
- Valid mental health licensure or certification (LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or equivalent) preferred; associate degree in behavioral health or related field with relevant clinical experience acceptable
- Demonstrated experience in acute behavioral health, psychiatric crisis response, or emergency mental health settings
- Strong crisis assessment and de-escalation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and empathetic in high-stress situations
- Commitment to recovery-oriented, person-centered, trauma-informed practice
