About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential education technology organization that is transforming how computer science students develop industry-ready technical skills. Our client works at the intersection of higher education and workforce development, serving tens of thousands of students annually through partnerships with universities and leading technology employers.
We're seeking a Senior Director of Curriculum to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of a comprehensive technical curriculum portfolio. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Chief Product Officer, with responsibility for defining how students transition from academic computer science programs to becoming AI-native software engineers ready for the modern workforce.
Responsibilities
You will own curriculum strategy and portfolio management across multiple delivery models, including university partnerships, direct-to-student programs, and employer-focused upskilling. Your key responsibilities include:
- Lead long-term curriculum strategy and drive the transition to a modular, flexible architecture that supports AI-native skills, rapid iteration, and multiple delivery formats
- Own the curriculum product roadmap with 12-month visibility into new courses, major revisions, and portfolio investments across Web Development, Mobile Development, Cybersecurity, Technical Interview Prep, and AI-native offerings
- Design and launch new courses aligned to emerging industry needs, particularly in AI-native engineering and applied AI workflows
- Oversee ongoing maintenance and improvement of existing courses to ensure relevance, rigor, and measurable student impact
- Build and manage a high-performing curriculum team, including full-time staff and external contractors
- Establish scalable processes for curriculum planning, development, quality assurance, feedback loops, and continuous improvement
- Partner closely with Learning, Engineering, Platform, Revenue, and Employer Partnerships teams to ensure courses remain rigorous, engaging, and aligned to rapidly evolving industry needs
- Represent the organization externally with university partners, employers, funders, and at industry events
Success in the first 12-18 months includes establishing a clear modular curriculum architecture, refreshing the majority of the existing course catalog, launching 2-3 new AI-focused courses with strong student outcomes, and building a scalable curriculum function capable of supporting continued organizational growth.
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Strong software engineering background with technical credibility to shape computer science and AI-native curriculum
- Demonstrated excellence in curriculum design, computer science education, or instructional leadership
- Experience owning end-to-end technical curriculum used by thousands of learners, from initial design through iteration and measurable outcomes
- Excitement about incorporating AI-first curriculum processes and tooling that accelerate development and improve quality
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, including managing full-time staff and contractors
- Deep understanding of the computer science degree journey and the gap between academic preparation and industry expectations
- First-principles thinker with evidence-based curriculum expertise, high ownership, and bias toward disciplined execution
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience designing AI-native, GenAI, or applied ML curriculum
- Familiarity with open-source software development or community-based contribution models
- Experience operating in fast-growing, mission-driven organizations
- Exposure to platform-based or large-scale learning environments
