About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential education technology organization in a full-time coaching role supporting AI fellows in a national workforce program. Our client partners with nonprofits across the United States to place AI-trained fellows who build solutions for social impact organizations.
As a Mentor in this program, you will coach approximately 20 fellows across 8–12 host organizations throughout their fellowship journey. Your role combines technical guidance, professional coaching, and organizational navigation support. You'll help fellows succeed not only in building AI-enabled solutions, but in understanding stakeholder needs, communicating effectively, and turning technical possibilities into adopted tools that nonprofits will actually use.
This is a remote position based in the United States, starting in September ahead of an October cohort launch.
Responsibilities
- Carry a portfolio of roughly 10 pods (about 20 fellows) from onboarding through program completion, facilitating weekly 1:1s and documenting progress
- Coach fellows through ambiguous projects, helping them clarify problems, identify stakeholders, and determine the right technical and organizational approach
- Provide structured feedback on real work including project plans, roadmap drafts, architecture proposals, presentations, and technical implementations
- Lead Day 30/90/180/270 milestone reviews and synthesize fellow progress for program leadership
- Deliver curriculum modules and author pod-specific content when gaps emerge from direct observation
- Guide fellows in applying AI tools and workflows to organizational problems rather than purely technical exercises
- Help fellows navigate stakeholder discovery, requirements gathering, organizational buy-in, and change management in nonprofit settings
- Identify recurring technical, professional, and organizational patterns across your pods and surface them to appropriate program owners
- Model AI-native work practices, using tools like Claude and other modern AI platforms to research, coach, problem-solve, and provide feedback at scale
- Escalate risks when fellows face technical, organizational, or professional roadblocks that threaten project success
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 2–5 years in software engineering, IT, technical program management, solutions engineering, implementation, technical consulting, AI operations, or similar technically adjacent roles
- Current, hands-on experience using modern AI tools and workflows with concrete examples of solving real problems
- Real coaching, mentorship, or people-development experience with demonstrated impact helping others navigate challenges
- Experience working across stakeholders to understand problems, recommend solutions, and help people adopt new ways of working
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation and asynchronous feedback
- Comfortable operating as a technical generalist who learns quickly, asks the right questions, and brings in deeper expertise when needed
- Able to coach early-career professionals through ambiguity, feedback, organizational dynamics, and professional expectations
- Comfortable with remote synchronous obligations across U.S. time zones and approximately two evenings monthly for cohort sessions
Preferred:
- Client-facing consulting or implementation experience, particularly with small businesses, nonprofits, education organizations, or teams adopting new technology
- Experience helping organizations adopt AI, automation, or other significant workflow changes
- Teaching assistant, bootcamp coach, fellowship mentor, instructor, manager, or career coach background developing early-career technical talent
- Experience facilitating workshops, presentations, professional learning, or technical training
- Experience in small or scrappy organizations where business context was as important as technical delivery
