The Opportunity
As an Accountant II with the EGID program, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with government accounting standards. This position is based in Oklahoma County and focuses on supporting the financial health and transparency of county operations through diligent accounting practices and timely reporting.
Responsibilities
- Perform account reconciliation and transaction verification to ensure accuracy in the general ledger and subsidiary accounts
- Prepare and review financial reports, statements, and schedules in compliance with government accounting standards and regulations
- Process accounting transactions, including entries, adjustments, and accruals, with attention to detail and proper documentation
- Support budget tracking, analysis, and reporting to assist departmental and county-wide financial management
- Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to resolve discrepancies, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits, compliance reviews, and financial inquiries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures and special accounting projects as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Prior accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, or government accounting
- Knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and government accounting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet applications (Excel or similar)
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities
- High school diploma or GED; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is preferred
