The Opportunity
The Kensington Family Shelter seeks a dedicated Case Manager to work with families experiencing homelessness in Brooklyn. You'll coordinate comprehensive services, connect residents with resources, and advocate for pathways to stable housing and self-sufficiency. This full-time role is essential to Camba's mission of helping individuals and families build better futures.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized case plans with families
- Coordinate referrals to housing, mental health, medical, and employment services
- Maintain regular contact with clients, track progress, and adjust support plans as needed
- Document case notes and maintain accurate, confidential records
- Facilitate access to benefits, financial assistance, and emergency resources
- Serve as a liaison between residents, shelter staff, and community partners
- Provide crisis intervention and support during family emergencies
Skills & Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency (English and Spanish) required
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
- Minimum 1–2 years of case management, social services, or direct client support experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with trauma-informed, culturally competent approaches
- Experience with case management software and general computer proficiency
- Valid driver's license preferred
