Role Overview

As a Border Patrol Agent with Customs and Border Protection, you'll work at GL-5/7 grade levels enforcing federal immigration and customs laws along the nation's borders. You'll operate with real authority, make independent judgments under pressure, and own accountability for your enforcement actions every single shift.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Monitor borders and ports of entry to detect, prevent, and respond to illegal crossings and contraband trafficking
  • Conduct lawful apprehensions and detentions of individuals in violation of immigration and customs statutes
  • Operate government vehicles and surveillance equipment to patrol assigned sectors
  • Prepare accurate written reports and testify regarding enforcement actions
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners on complex cases
  • Maintain proficiency with firearms and comply with mandatory law enforcement training standards

What We're Looking For

  • U.S. citizen between 21 and 37 years old at time of appointment
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Excellent health, vision, and hearing; ability to pass medical examination
  • Willingness to undergo thorough background investigation and drug screening
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently in remote areas
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Physical fitness to perform demanding law enforcement duties in varied terrain and weather conditions
