Production Planning Engineer

Advanced Ground Systems Engineering is seeking a Production Planning Engineer to join our team at our Santa Fe Springs facility in Los Angeles County. As a full-time Production Planning Engineer, you'll drive manufacturing excellence and operational efficiency across our production operations.

About This Position

The Production Planning Engineer role is pivotal to our manufacturing success. You'll own the strategy behind how we transform designs into high-quality products, balancing speed, quality, and cost across every production cycle. This position demands both strategic thinking and hands-on problem-solving as you work to eliminate bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and ensure we meet delivery commitments consistently. You'll be the connective force between our engineering teams, production floor, quality assurance, and supply chain partners—making data-driven decisions that move the needle on operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine manufacturing process strategies that maximize efficiency and minimize waste
• Analyze production workflows and identify optimization opportunities to reduce cycle time and improve throughput
• Forecast production demand and manage capacity planning to ensure resource allocation aligns with business needs
• Lead process improvement initiatives and drive continuous enhancement of production systems
• Coordinate with design engineering, quality, manufacturing, and procurement teams to align production capabilities with product requirements
• Monitor production metrics and establish KPIs that track progress toward operational targets
• Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and implement solutions that enhance on-time delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Demonstrated experience in production planning, process engineering, or manufacturing operations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience optimizing complex systems
• Proficiency in capacity planning tools, production scheduling software, or ERP systems
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and ability to influence across departments
• Project management experience and track record of delivering results in a manufacturing environment
