About the Role
You'll work directly with J Street's Associate Director of Government Affairs on Capitol Hill and executive branch advocacy. This part-time internship runs 2–3 months, typically from Labor Day through Thanksgiving, at 15 hours per week. The position is based in our Washington, D.C. office and is compensated at $19 per hour.
What You'll Do
- Research legislative developments, pending bills, and congressional activity relevant to Middle East policy
- Prepare briefing materials and policy summaries for staff and advocacy meetings
- Assist with constituent and stakeholder outreach and engagement
- Support coordination with allied organizations and advocacy partners
- Help track and analyze voting records and policy positions of federal officials
- Contribute to written advocacy materials and communications
What We're Looking For
- Strong research and writing skills
- Demonstrated interest in foreign policy, government affairs, or political advocacy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn about Middle East policy and Israeli-Palestinian issues
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based research tools
