About This Position

We're seeking a talented Designer for Womens Outerwear & Bottoms to join our product development team at The Gap. In this role, you'll work in an energizing and inclusive creative environment where your design expertise directly impacts the quality and style of women's outerwear and bottoms. You'll collaborate with cross-functional partners across product, merchandising, and manufacturing to bring compelling designs to market that exceed customer expectations while advancing our commitment to sustainable practices.

What You'll Do

  • Conceive and develop design concepts for women's outerwear and bottoms that align with brand strategy and seasonal direction
  • Partner with merchandising and product teams to ensure exceptional fit, quality, and value across the collection
  • Create and iterate on technical designs, specifications, and detailed sketches for manufacturing partners
  • Research trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences to inform design decisions
  • Manage the design development process from concept through production, ensuring style and quality standards are consistently met
  • Contribute to sustainable product innovation and environmentally responsible design practices
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver on-brand, on-time, and on-budget designs

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a designer in women's apparel, with a strong portfolio demonstrating design range in outerwear and/or bottoms
  • Strong technical design skills, including ability to create detailed specifications and understand garment construction
  • Proficiency with design software including Adobe Creative Suite and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of fit, fabric properties, and production processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
  • Passion for creating quality, sustainable products that customers value
