Yale New Haven Health seeks a dedicated Critical Care Float Nurse (Float RN) to support patient care across our intensive care units in Providence, Providence County. This full-time nursing position offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality care in dynamic, fast-paced critical care environments while working under the supervision of experienced Nurse Managers and Clinical Coordinators.
Position Summary
As a Critical Care Float Nurse, you'll provide essential nursing care to critically ill patients in our ICU settings. This float RN role requires flexibility and clinical expertise as you rotate between units, bringing continuity of care and specialized knowledge to diverse patient populations. You'll work collaboratively with interdisciplinary clinical teams to optimize patient outcomes and support families during challenging times.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to critically ill individuals in intensive care units
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, and patient responses to treatment
- Administer medications, therapies, and clinical interventions per established protocols
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient assessment and nursing care
- Communicate effectively with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Rotate across multiple ICU units, adapting to different patient populations and clinical protocols
- Provide compassionate support to patients and families during critical care episodes

Skills & Qualifications
- Current, valid registered nurse (RN) license in Rhode Island
- Critical care nursing experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and clinical reasoning abilities

- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care
- Team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-acuity settings
