About the Role

This full-time counseling position serves a dynamic secondary school environment where you'll support students' growth across academics, social-emotional wellbeing, and future planning. As a long-term substitute, you'll maintain continuity of care and become an integral part of the school's support team, working alongside dedicated educators to foster student success and school community.

What You'll Do

• Provide individualized academic advising, helping students select courses, plan educational pathways, and set achievable goals
• Guide students through college and career exploration, including applications, financial aid, and post-secondary planning
• Deliver responsive personal and social counseling, supporting students navigating challenges both in and outside the classroom
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to identify student needs and develop supportive interventions
• Manage student schedules, course placements, and academic records
• Assist with student testing, assessment, and data analysis to inform counseling practices
• Serve as an advocate for equitable opportunities and student voice in school decision-making

What We're Looking For

• Minnesota K-12 Secondary School Counselor license or eligibility to obtain one
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build trust with students
• Experience supporting student academic planning and college/career readiness
• Knowledge of crisis intervention, mental health support, and appropriate referral resources
• Commitment to working with diverse student populations and promoting inclusive school communities
• Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
