Focus Interpreting is hiring a full-time Court Certified English-Spanish Interpreter to serve the legal system in Ontario and throughout San Bernardino County. We're seeking a skilled bilingual professional to provide accurate, impartial interpretation services in courtroom and related legal settings.

About the Role

As a court-certified interpreter with Focus Interpreting, you'll play a critical role in ensuring fair access to justice by bridging language barriers in legal proceedings. You'll work directly with judges, attorneys, plaintiffs, defendants, and witnesses—providing faithful interpretation that maintains the integrity of court proceedings while ensuring all parties understand and are understood.

What You'll Do

• Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish during court hearings, depositions, trials, and legal consultations
• Interpret complex legal terminology and procedure with accuracy and cultural sensitivity
• Maintain strict confidentiality and professional impartiality in all interactions
• Manage time-sensitive proceedings while ensuring clear communication between English and Spanish-speaking participants
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing case materials and technical vocabulary as needed
• Adhere to professional standards and courtroom protocols established by the judiciary

What We're Looking For

• Valid court certification or ability to obtain it (certification requirements vary by California court jurisdiction)
• Fluent, native-level proficiency in both English and Spanish with strong command of legal terminology
• Proven experience interpreting in legal, courtroom, or formal settings
• Professional demeanor, discretion, and ability to remain impartial under pressure
• Excellent listening, note-taking, and memory skills
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to meet court schedules across San Bernardino County
