Registered Nurse Med Surg

Join Ascension St. Vincent's nursing team as a Registered Nurse Med Surg in Evansville, Indiana, where you'll deliver skilled, compassionate patient care in our Medical-Surgical and Renal-Diabetic units. This is a full-time night shift position offering the opportunity to make a direct impact on patient recovery and well-being.

About the Role

You'll work as part of the 6 West Med Surg Renal Diabetic unit at Ascension St. Vincent, providing direct nursing care to patients recovering from surgery or managing complex medical conditions. This is a full-time position with 12-hour night shifts, allowing you to develop deeper continuity with your patients while maintaining consistent night-shift hours. A sign-on bonus is available to qualifying candidates.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care including wound assessment, medication administration, and post-operative monitoring
• Monitor vital signs and patient responses to treatment, reporting changes to the care team
• Support patients with mobility, comfort measures, and activities of daily living
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams on comprehensive care plans
• Document patient care accurately and maintain confidentiality of medical information
• Educate patients and families about medications, discharge instructions, and self-care management
• Respond promptly to patient needs and concerns during night shift operations

What We're Looking For

• Current RN licensure in Indiana
• Experience or willingness to develop expertise in medical-surgical nursing
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and team members
• Ability to manage multiple patients safely and efficiently
• Commitment to patient-centered care and professional accountability
• Comfort working night shift schedules in a hospital setting
