MidState Medical Center in Southbury is seeking a Graduate Nurse (GN) to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This full-time overnight position offers new nursing graduates an excellent foundation for launching their healthcare careers in a mentored, supportive environment.
About the Role
As a Graduate Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit, you'll care for patients experiencing complex medical and surgical conditions while developing your nursing skills under experienced supervision. Based at our 435 Lewis Avenue location in Southbury, this position features a three 12-hour overnight shift schedule each week (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), with every third weekend and every third holiday off to maintain work-life balance during this crucial stage of your nursing journey.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct patient care to PCU patients under mentorship from experienced RN staff
- Assess patient conditions and respond to patient safety needs throughout your shift
- Assist with medication administration and evidence-based nursing interventions
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in electronic health record systems
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Contribute to a collaborative, supportive unit environment
