VP Engineering, Ongoing Monitoring

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a VP Engineering to lead their fraud detection and financial crime prevention engineering teams. Reporting to the Chief Data and Technology Officer, you will own the engineering strategy and execution for real-time transaction monitoring, anti-money laundering, sanctions screening, and investigative tooling that protects millions of business banking members across multiple markets.

In this role, you will:

• Set engineering strategy for fraud, financial crime, and ongoing monitoring platforms supporting real-time decisioning across domestic and international payment flows
• Lead distributed engineering teams across backend, frontend, data science, ML engineering, and analytics engineering functions
• Build and develop engineering leadership, managing managers and senior engineers while growing the leadership bench
• Own the full machine learning lifecycle from development through backtesting, shadow deployment, staged rollout, and production performance monitoring
• Scale agentic AI solutions within regulated workflows, ensuring governance frameworks support automation while maintaining regulatory compliance
• Deliver measurable risk and efficiency outcomes including reduced fraud losses, higher automated alert throughput, and lower per-member monitoring costs
• Unify decision engine and intelligence platforms as shared capabilities serving multiple markets
• Coordinate across first-line operations, second-line risk and compliance, payments engineering, data science, and AI platform teams
• Establish operating models that enable building once and deploying globally while isolating market-specific logic

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading engineering organizations in fraud detection, financial crime, risk management, or real-time decisioning domains
• Strong track record converting platform investment into measurable outcomes across fraud mitigation, unit economics improvement, and workflow automation
• Experience taking machine learning models from development into production at scale, including ownership of live model performance and rapid iteration cycles
• Background operating in regulated environments, collaborating with risk and compliance functions and regulators
• Strong judgment across organization design, delivery execution, platform strategy, data architecture, and technical quality standards
• Ability to lead distributed teams across multiple geographies and align cross-functional stakeholders behind unified roadmaps and priorities
• Experience deploying AI or agentic systems inside regulated workflows with clear approaches to governance, evaluation, and human oversight is highly valued
