CDM Smith, through its The Perry Group division, is hiring a Site Construction Manager 1 for a full-time, 100% field-based position managing substation construction projects in Jacksonville, Duval County. This role offers hands-on project management in a dynamic construction environment.

About the Role

As Site Construction Manager 1 with The Perry Group, a CDM Smith company, you'll oversee on-site construction activities for substation projects. You'll lead crews and coordinate with subcontractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure every project meets quality, safety, and schedule objectives. This is a field-intensive role where your presence on-site drives project success from day one through completion.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Direct construction crews and manage subcontractor work to keep projects on schedule
• Monitor compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and construction best practices
• Track project budgets, materials, labor, and equipment to control costs
• Conduct daily inspections of work quality and resolve issues in real time
• Coordinate with site engineers, design teams, and client representatives
• Maintain detailed project documentation, progress reports, and daily logs
• Communicate project status and address challenges with leadership and stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Several years of construction management or site management experience
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple work crews, and coordinate subcontractors
• Strong knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA compliance
• Experience reading construction plans, schedules, and budget documents
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Demonstrated attention to quality and detail
• Experience with substation, electrical infrastructure, or similar industrial construction is a plus
