Position Summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Data and AI Architect to architect data platforms and AI systems that enable informed decision-making and operational excellence. In this full-time position, you'll take ownership of technical strategy for data infrastructure and AI/ML initiatives, working across multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions that solve real-world challenges in engineering and consulting.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and oversee enterprise data architecture, including cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and analytics platforms
• Lead the assessment and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions aligned with business objectives
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures
• Mentor engineering teams on data engineering best practices, AI/ML methodologies, and architectural patterns
• Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks to keep CDM Smith's technical stack competitive and future-ready
• Establish data governance, security, and compliance standards across data and AI initiatives
• Conduct code and architecture reviews to ensure quality, performance, and maintainability

Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, software architecture, or AI/ML systems
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed data systems
• Proven experience designing and deploying machine learning models and data pipelines in production
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern data stack tools
• Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and analytics technologies
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across organizational boundaries
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
