What This Role Involves

As an Accounting & Payroll Technician, you'll be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions and payroll administration. You'll work closely with our Finance team to process employee compensation accurately and on schedule, maintain financial records, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be essential to supporting both our internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees, ensuring accurate calculations, deductions, and timely payment distribution
  • Reconcile payroll records and maintain detailed documentation for audit and compliance purposes
  • Enter and verify accounting transactions, including invoices, expenses, and general ledger entries
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements and account balances
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Assist with financial reporting and the preparation of payroll-related documents
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, deductions, and payroll processes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll and tax regulations

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary accounting or payroll training is an asset
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and statutory deductions in Quebec and Canada
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in numerical work
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet consistent deadlines
  • Professional communication skills and a collaborative work style
  • Discretion and reliability when handling confidential financial and personnel information
