Technical Solutions Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential retail technology client seeking a Technical Solutions Engineer to join their Manchester team. In this role, you will:

• Provide onsite and remote technical support and troubleshooting for platform users, performing routine maintenance, POS integration, and issue resolution
• Take ownership of platform performance through proactive monitoring and issue identification
• Engage with customers to gather feedback, provide training, tailor system settings, and deliver technical reports with actionable recommendations
• Oversee platform deployment and ensure efficient operation before, during, and after implementation
• Collaborate with customers to analyze requirements and customize platform configurations, translating business needs into detailed technical specifications
• Work closely with software developers, R&D, and engineering teams to align application performance with specifications
• Test platform performance under various conditions and make necessary configuration adjustments
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including user guides, training materials, and system specifications
• Act as primary escalation point for L2/L3 monitoring and customer tickets
• Facilitate customer onboarding and provide regular program updates to senior management
• Conduct product demonstrations and deliver presentations highlighting platform features and value propositions

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 4-5 years in a similar role managing complex technical projects
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of working time for client meetings and project activities
• Extensive experience with Linux systems and proficiency in Docker and/or Podman
• Strong scripting abilities in Bash, Python, and Node.js
• Knowledge of standard network communication protocols including TCP, UDP, HTTP, WS, and FTP
• Basic understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, subnets, DNS configurations, and SSL certificates
• Familiarity with automation tools, especially Ansible (preferred)
• Knowledge of ELK Stack, REST, NGINX, JSON, XML, message brokers (MQTT, RabbitMQ, Redis), TypeScript, JavaScript, RTSP feeds, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, and OpenShift
• Strong capability to troubleshoot complex issues across system resources and application stack traces
• Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft 365, Jira, and Smartsheet
• Exceptional problem-solving and organizational abilities with a proactive, self-motivated mindset
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
• Passion for AI and interest in continuing education and research in Artificial Intelligence
