The MITRE Corporation is seeking a Systems Acquisition, Principal in Redstone Arsenal, Madison County, Alabama. This full-time leadership position offers the opportunity to direct strategic systems acquisition initiatives for critical national defense and security programs, driving how advanced systems are evaluated, procured, and integrated to meet mission objectives.

About the Role

As a principal-level systems acquisition leader, you'll oversee complex, end-to-end acquisition processes that span requirements definition, proposal evaluation, and contract management. Working from our Redstone Arsenal location, you'll collaborate with government stakeholders, technical teams, and industry partners to ensure acquisitions deliver maximum value and align with strategic goals. Your principal-level expertise will shape acquisition strategy and influence how systems programs evolve.

What You'll Do

• Direct systems acquisition strategy and planning across complex, multi-stakeholder programs
• Evaluate technical proposals and assess contractor capabilities against mission-critical requirements
• Develop and communicate acquisition roadmaps that optimize technical performance, schedule, cost, and risk management
• Oversee stakeholder coordination among government agencies, military commands, and defense contractors
• Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations, policies, and evolving acquisition guidelines
• Lead teams and build organizational capabilities in systems acquisition and program management
• Identify, assess, and mitigate acquisition risks throughout program lifecycles

What We're Looking For

• Extensive background in systems acquisition, procurement, or program management at the principal or senior level
• Strong command of federal acquisition regulations, processes, and acquisition management methodologies
• Deep knowledge of systems engineering principles and technical evaluation practices
• Proven track record leading cross-functional teams in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
• Excellent communication abilities across technical teams and executive leadership
• Active Top Secret security clearance, or demonstrated ability to obtain one
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, technology, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
