Systemadministrator Linux (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology company in Freiburg im Breisgau that is seeking a skilled Linux Systems Administrator to shape their IT infrastructure. In this role, you won't simply maintain existing systems—you'll actively design and build the future of their Linux and Open Source environment.

• Take ownership of the Linux system landscape and associated network and IT infrastructure, optimizing performance and reliability
• Drive migration projects from proprietary software to appropriate Open Source alternatives, advancing the organization's technological independence
• Work with virtualization and containerization technologies including Proxmox, Docker, and vSphere
• Automate processes and workflows using Python, Ansible, or comparable technologies
• Advance cyber security and resilience initiatives, addressing technical requirements around NIS 2, GDPR, CRA, and TISAX compliance
• Manage and expand an internal Linux-based AI server infrastructure, creating a secure environment for artificial intelligence applications
• Provide second and third-level technical support for primarily technical users, solving complex IT challenges

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone with a strong Linux foundation and at least two years of post-qualification experience in Linux administration. You should be comfortable working independently in a small IT team with significant creative freedom.

• Completed vocational training as IT specialist, IT systems administrator, completed informatics degree, or comparable qualification
• Minimum two years of professional experience with clear focus on Linux administration after completing your training or studies
• Very strong Linux knowledge—you already work routinely with Linux and don't need introductory training
• Solid understanding of networking, network protocols, and IT infrastructure
• Experience with virtualization or container technologies such as Proxmox, Docker, or vSphere
• Knowledge of automation using Python, Ansible, or comparable technologies
• Enthusiasm for Open Source and interest in building a long-term IT landscape on open and secure solutions
• Negotiation-level German language skills (minimum C1) and fluent English
• Independent, pragmatic working style with desire to actively shape technical decisions and try new solutions with the team
• Beneficial: experience with Nextcloud, Open Xchange, Nginx, pfSense, OpenVPN, Git, Ceph, or IT security

Pay
