About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential circular economy organization seeking a Sustainability and Public Affairs Intern in Paris. This dual-mission role offers exposure to B Corp certification processes, responsible business practices, and policy advocacy shaping the regulatory landscape for sustainable commerce. Our client is committed to environmental impact and operates at the intersection of business sustainability and public policy.
Responsibilities
Sustainability (50% of role):
- Support B Corp recertification efforts by compiling documentation, conducting benchmarking research, and maintaining progress tracking systems
- Develop responsible business conduct practices including sustainability databases, questionnaires for suppliers and sellers, and implementation plans
- Drive internal engagement through employee sustainability initiatives, events, communication materials, and philanthropy reporting
- Contribute to technology impact monitoring and ESG reporting activities
Public Affairs (50% of role):
- Conduct legal analysis of bill drafts, parliamentary discussions, and votes related to circular economy at French, UK, and EU levels
- Monitor policy-making processes at national and European levels affecting the refurbished electronics sector
- Develop stakeholder mapping and contribute to position paper development
- Participate in external meetings with policymakers, industry associations, and key stakeholders
- Track regulatory developments impacting circular economy practices
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Sustainability, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Environmental Studies, Law, Political Science, or related field
- Capable of reading and understanding legal texts and policy-making processes in France and Europe
- Strong analytical and research capabilities with excellent organizational skills
- Fluent in both English and French (written and spoken)
- Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets for database management and tracking
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable formats
- Genuine curiosity about sustainability, ESG standards, circular economy, and regulatory affairs
- Team player who can work independently across multiple concurrent projects
- Knowledge of B Corp certification processes (preferred)
- Familiarity with EU legislative processes (preferred)
- Experience with data visualization tools (preferred)
Internship Details:
- Start date: January 2027
- Duration: 6 months (through June 2027)
- Schedule: Full-time (35 hours per week)
- Location: Paris, France
- Requires internship agreement from a French educational institution
