Staff Product Manager: Product Discovery Engine

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential eCommerce technology client in their search for a Staff Product Manager to lead product discovery initiatives. This is a remote, high-impact role focused on search quality, machine learning systems, and measurable business outcomes across multiple retail verticals.

You'll own strategy for search and discovery systems that serve billions of requests, working at the intersection of product management, machine learning, and information retrieval. This is a technical leadership position with clear growth potential, starting with ownership of search quality and expanding to broader discovery engine leadership.

Responsibilities

• Drive measurable improvements in search-attributed conversion, revenue per visit, and GMV across diverse retail industries
• Own business impact metrics rather than feature counts—your success is measured by relevance and customer outcomes
• Set multi-quarter vision and strategy for the discovery engine, unifying recall, ranking, query understanding, and personalization
• Translate cutting-edge ML and information retrieval research into production capabilities that deliver measurable quality improvements
• Partner with ML, data science, and engineering teams to ship state-of-the-art models balancing accuracy, latency, and cost
• Build evaluation frameworks and tooling that tie system investments directly to customer business metrics
• Orchestrate across multiple technical teams to ensure improvements compound rather than conflict
• Lead quality investigations and design systemic fixes when issues arise
• Expand leadership scope across ML infrastructure, recall systems, and catalog management over time

What We're Looking For

• Typically 8+ years of product management experience in search, discovery, ML, or NLP-heavy products
• Proven track record of moving business metrics at scale—conversion, revenue, engagement—not just shipping features
• Deep understanding of end-to-end search pipelines: query interpretation, recall/candidate generation, ranking, reranking, personalization, and delivery
• Strong ML product expertise, including ownership of production models and reasoning about tradeoffs between high-capacity and low-latency approaches
• Fluency with retrieval systems, query understanding (tokenization, synonyms, spelling correction, multilingual support), and search evaluation methodologies
• Rigorous, measurement-first mindset that connects quality investments to business outcomes
• Excellent cross-functional leadership—ability to align engineering, data science, and ML teams behind shared definitions of quality
• Comfort with ambiguity and setting direction through clarity and credibility
• Current knowledge of state-of-the-art research in search and ML
