About This Opportunity

Our client, a leading global biopharmaceutical organization, is seeking a Senior Director, Head of Launch Excellence to lead a new enterprise-wide capability focused on driving successful product launches across markets. This remote role (based in the United States) reports into Global Marketing and will shape how the organization plans, executes, and scales biopharmaceutical launches worldwide.

You'll establish Launch Excellence (LEX) as a practical operating model, partnering with global, regional, and local teams to translate launch strategy into market-ready execution. You'll build pattern recognition from multiple launches into reusable standards, tools, and AI-enabled workflows that improve speed, quality, and decision-making across the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Define and operationalize the Launch Excellence operating model, including governance, decision rights, service levels, and escalation paths across global and local teams
  • Set quality standards for launch readiness planning, milestone preparation, leadership reviews, risk logs, and launch performance metrics
  • Partner with global marketing, regional business teams, and local affiliates to translate brand strategy into integrated launch plans and market activation support
  • Implement service-level frameworks (hands-on, guided, self-service) based on brand priority, market complexity, and critical-path risk
  • Hire, onboard, and lead a capability center team to serve as the scalable delivery engine for Launch Excellence activities
  • Build practical launch assets including dashboards, readiness tools, playbooks, quality checklists, KPI dictionaries, and AI-enabled workflows
  • Establish launch governance routines, readiness heatmaps, risk triggers, and decision records to give senior leaders clear visibility into launch status and trade-offs
  • Develop learning programs, communities of practice, after-action reviews, and cross-brand forums to scale best practices and lessons learned
  • Build trusted relationships with global, regional, and local stakeholders to ensure Launch Excellence improves focus and quality without replacing brand ownership or local accountability

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 22–26 years of biopharmaceutical commercial experience across global, regional, and local marketing and commercial roles
  • Demonstrated serial launch track record: personally led or played a senior cross-functional role in multiple product launches across brands, markets, and launch types
  • Direct experience leading launch excellence, launch readiness, launch operations, or multi-market execution, including integrated launch plans, critical-path milestones, risk mitigation, and launch governance
  • Proven people management experience building teams, setting operating models, and coaching talent in complex matrix environments
  • Strong ability to engage senior stakeholders, influence across functions, and communicate clearly with executive audiences
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and analytical skills, with comfort using dashboards, KPIs, and risk-based decision-making
  • Experience with digital tools, dashboards, AI-enabled workflows, or automation in commercial operations or launch execution preferred
  • Deep expertise across global brand strategy, regional translation, and local execution, ideally across launch, in-line, and lifecycle brands
  • Ability to pressure-test plans, anticipate risks, and apply pattern recognition from multiple launches to know what good readiness looks like
  • Pragmatic innovation mindset with ability to apply AI, automation, and knowledge management to improve speed and quality
