Staff Mobile Engineer – Retail

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential delivery technology company seeking a Staff Mobile Engineer to shape how customers discover, browse, and buy retail products across their consumer applications. In this role, you will:

• Lead complex cross-team initiatives through design, implementation, launch, and operational ownership, partnering with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable impact
• Drive and implement native iOS and Android initiatives within shared consumer-facing applications, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
• Work within and help evolve server-driven UI (SDUI) approaches, designing configurable, component-based views
• Anticipate future product and architectural needs while establishing engineering standards across architecture, testing, release processes, observability, and incident management
• Champion AI-enabled tooling and practices that help mobile engineers move faster without compromising quality
• Communicate complex technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders with clear estimates, timelines, and trade-offs
• Mentor engineers, including those transitioning into mobile development, and uphold engineering culture and best practices across teams

What We're Looking For

Our talent team is seeking candidates with:

• Deep expertise in mobile development, particularly iOS, including modern best practices, performance optimization, observability, modularity, SDK design, server-driven UI, CI/CD, and App Store processes
• Experience operating at Staff Engineer level or equivalent scope, having led cross-team or cross-organizational initiatives
• A track record working on large-scale, native consumer (B2C) applications, ideally where app ownership is distributed across multiple teams
• A pragmatic, impact-oriented mindset with bias for action and simple, effective solutions
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-changing business environments
• Ability to influence and align stakeholders through clear communication and technical leadership
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to a culture of continuous learning
• Practical experience using AI as part of your engineering toolkit, with good instincts for validation, quality, and critical evaluation
• Combined iOS and Android experience is a strong plus

This is an on-site role based in Berlin.
