Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, AI

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity organization seeking a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, AI for a U.S.-based position. This is a unique engineering role where you'll embed directly with business functions to rapidly design, build, and ship custom applications that solve real operational challenges.

Unlike traditional platform engineering roles, you will work alongside Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Security, People, Legal, and other departments as an extension of their teams. You'll scope problems end-to-end, prototype solutions using modern AI development tools, and deliver production-ready applications in days or weeks rather than quarters.

Responsibilities

• Embed with functional departments to run discovery sessions, understand workflows, and identify pain points before building solutions
• Design and build full-stack custom applications using modern frameworks, AI coding assistants, and internal APIs, moving rapidly from prototype to production
• Own end-to-end delivery including architecture, development, testing, deployment, training, and adoption handoff
• Leverage AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) to compress development cycles and iterate with stakeholders in near real-time
• Make and communicate explicit trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality as requirements evolve
• Partner with IT, Security, and Data teams to ensure all deployed applications meet enterprise security, compliance, and supportability standards
• Document and codify recurring patterns, components, and playbooks into reusable building blocks for future engagements
• Provide feedback to platform and product teams based on field learnings and real-world usage
• Measure success through production adoption and measurable business impact

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated ability to independently design, build, and ship full-stack applications
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Python, Node.js/JavaScript, or comparable) and sufficient frontend skills to build usable internal tools
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLM-based development tools to accelerate delivery
• Working understanding of APIs, webhooks, data structures, and integration patterns
• Proven track record working directly with non-technical stakeholders to scope ambiguous requests, manage expectations, and ship tangible results
• Comfort operating with significant autonomy across shifting priorities and problem domains
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical trade-offs to both executive leadership and engineering peers
• Prior experience in forward-deployed, solutions engineering, professional services, or startup generalist roles preferred
• Exposure to enterprise security, compliance, or data governance requirements preferred
