About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Software Architect to join their Data Intelligence team in the UK. Our client operates a cloud-based data platform serving multiple enterprise clients simultaneously, and they need an experienced architect to design systems that are stable, cost-efficient, and developer-friendly.

This role works closely with development teams to eliminate technical complexity and establish architectural standards that enable rapid feature delivery without compromising quality or reliability.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Platform Design: Design and evolve the cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for a multi-tenant data platform, ensuring scalability and performance across client workloads.
• Stability & Fault Tolerance: Build resilient systems with automatic recovery capabilities that maintain service continuity during production incidents.
• Developer Experience: Create clear APIs, templates, and shared tooling that accelerate internal development cycles and reduce implementation errors.
• Cloud Cost Optimization: Monitor and optimize resource utilization across cloud services and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes to maintain cost-effectiveness.
• Legacy Modernization: Identify outdated system components and develop incremental improvement strategies that don't disrupt ongoing operations.
• Technical Leadership: Review architectural designs, establish technical standards, and provide guidance while maintaining team velocity.
• Security Architecture: Ensure platform design incorporates security best practices and compliance requirements from initial conception.
• Observability: Define monitoring and measurement strategies that enable rapid incident diagnosis and resolution.
• Technology Evaluation: Build prototypes to assess emerging tools and frameworks before enterprise-wide adoption decisions.

What We're Looking For

• Technical Background: Proven experience as a Software Architect or Principal Engineer delivering cloud SaaS products that process large data volumes.
• Core Technologies: Hands-on expertise with microservices architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed messaging systems.
• Proactive Approach: You identify potential system failures and cost inefficiencies before they become problems, proposing solutions independently.
• Developer Empathy: You design with the developer experience in mind, creating tools and patterns that reduce friction and frustration.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.
