Social Studies Teacher (Long-Term Substitute)

Waconia Public Schools seeks a dedicated Social Studies teacher to join our high school faculty in a full-time, long-term substitute position beginning August 24, 2026. What You'll Do

• Plan and deliver comprehensive Social Studies instruction aligned with Minnesota state standards and district curriculum
• Create engaging lessons that develop students' critical thinking, historical analysis, and civic understanding
• Assess student learning through varied methods including quizzes, projects, discussions, and written assignments
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners and learning styles
• Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs and academic levels
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum alignment and professional development
• Use available technology and instructional resources to enhance student engagement

What We're Looking For

• Valid Minnesota teaching license or appropriate certification in Social Studies (or equivalent credentials)
• Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, or related field
• Demonstrated experience teaching high school students
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proven classroom management and organizational abilities
• Commitment to student-centered, inclusive teaching practices
• Flexibility and professionalism in a long-term substitute context
