Site Reliability Engineer -Openstack (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join their senior platform team. In this role, you will:

• Design and build on-premise cloud infrastructure based on OpenStack, with the goal of bringing complete cloud environments from bare metal to production through highly automated deployment processes
• Develop and operate Infrastructure as Code using Ansible and Terraform, as well as Kubernetes and GitOps workflows with FluxCD/ArgoCD, leveraging AI-assisted tooling for testing and review
• Own the complete lifecycle of compute infrastructure—from bare metal provisioning, firmware management and host configuration through to hypervisors and virtual compute nodes, including patching, migrations, host evacuation and capacity rebalancing
• Build and extend AI substrate and self-healing capabilities, developing agentic workflows for incident triage, capacity planning and gradually automating manual runbooks
• Design and implement tests for non-regression, performance and security; document and package solutions while continuously improving the platform based on telemetry and operational feedback
• Serve as a technical reference and collaborate with peers across automation, platform engineering and AI tooling initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Several years of hands-on experience as an SRE, Platform Engineer or DevOps Engineer running production infrastructure, with strong expertise in OpenStack, Kubernetes and Linux, including bare metal environments
• Proven experience managing compute infrastructure end-to-end: firmware/BIOS rollouts, bare-metal provisioning, hardware diagnostics, hypervisors, migrations, host evacuation, graceful drains and capacity rebalancing
• Active use of AI-assisted engineering in your daily work—you leverage LLMs and agentic tools where they meaningfully support development, testing, reviews or operations, and understand where AI adds real value versus where strong engineering expertise remains essential
• Confidence working with Ansible, Terraform and GitOps workflows such as FluxCD or ArgoCD, with understanding of what it takes to build robust, repeatable production automation systems
• Ideally, proficiency in Go and/or Python with experience using Claude Code, Cursor, Aider or comparable agentic coding environments; exposure to observability, networking, compute tuning, auto-remediation, security-critical infrastructure or multi-site clouds is a plus
• Strong autonomous work style with a sense of ownership; you enjoy improving systems rather than simply maintaining them and can communicate complex technical topics clearly
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
