About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization experiencing rapid international growth. They are building critical financial infrastructure and seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong Java expertise to join their engineering team in London. This is a chance to work on greenfield projects and high-impact systems in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure backend systems that power financial products
- Build REST APIs and engineer microservices using Java 25 and Spring Boot
- Work on critical systems including payment processing, treasury management, transaction booking, and liquidity operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performing solutions
- Apply clean code principles with emphasis on maintainability and fast delivery
- Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD), Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and continuous integration & delivery
- Contribute to both greenfield development and enhancement of existing systems
- Work with Postgres databases and modern backend technologies
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrable experience in backend development with fluency in Java
- Bachelor's Degree (or above) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other Engineering/Science discipline
- Track record of building complex products used by large user bases, ideally in hypergrowth startup environments
- Quick learner with an ambitious and results-driven personality
- Excellent communication skills with English fluency (verbal and written)
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and REST API design
- Experience with Spring Boot, TDD, DDD, and CI/CD practices
- Office-based work expectation: 3-4 days per week in London
