Senior Software Engineer, Identity

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI data platform company seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Identity to join their London team. This role sits at the foundation of enterprise-grade AI systems, focusing on identity, access management, authorization, and authentication infrastructure that supports cutting-edge generative AI products.

In this position, you will design and build core identity systems that ensure secure authentication and authorization across enterprise environments. You'll work at the intersection of infrastructure engineering and security, gaining exposure to how leading organizations implement AI safely and compliantly.

Responsibilities

• Drive the design and implementation of identity infrastructure to ensure secure authentication and authorization across enterprise systems
• Build software for authentication mechanisms including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and federated identity solutions (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
• Develop authorization mechanisms such as Relation-based access control (ReBAC), Attribute-based access control (ABAC), and Role-based access control (RBAC)
• Build software-defined identity governance policies to ensure compliance with security policies and industry regulations (NIST, SOC2, ISO 27001)
• Present technical information to teams and stakeholders, providing guidance on identity management best practices

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of full-time engineering experience post-graduation, with specialization in infrastructure and identity systems
• Infrastructure expertise including IAM controls, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi), and microservice deployment best practices
• Hands-on experience with OpenFGA, Authzed, Cedar, Topaz, or similar authorization frameworks at scale
• Strong understanding of Zanzibar-based ReBAC models, relationship tuples, and access control evaluation
• Deep knowledge of authentication standards such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT, plus experience with IdP solutions like EntraID and Okta
• Extensive software development experience with distributed systems and public cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Track record of independent ownership of successful engineering projects
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have:

• Experience securing API access and implementing application-level access control mechanisms
• Multi-cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Proficiency integrating IAM solutions with applications using Java, Python, Node.js, or.NET
• Mentorship or leadership experience supporting junior engineers
