Senior Software Engineer, Engineering Operations

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential enterprise software organization that is undergoing a transformative shift toward AI-first operations. Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Engineering Operations team, where you will play a pivotal role in building scalable processes that enhance development efficiency, reliability, and quality across their platform.

This is a fully remote position offering the opportunity to work on high-impact infrastructure that supports engineering excellence at scale. You'll be instrumental in creating autonomous, AI-augmented workflows that eliminate friction and enable engineering teams to focus on core product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of automated engineering lifecycle processes, including AI-assisted release management, autonomous dependency updates, and proactive security vulnerability remediation
• Continuously optimize CI/CD health and development velocity using metrics-driven approaches to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in AI-first workflows
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the engineering organization to implement CI strategy and best practices that create measurable positive impact
• Identify friction points in engineering workflows and transform them into automated, self-sustaining systems capable of supporting an AI-augmented workforce
• Partner effectively with software engineers, engineering leaders, and cross-functional teams to drive process improvements
• Own and develop engineering processes end-to-end, from conception through implementation and continuous refinement

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Strong software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering results, preferably in Java
• Fullstack or Backend specialization
• Demonstrated passion for engineering operational excellence beyond writing code, including CI/CD optimization, dependency management, release processes, metrics collection, and build efficiency
• Deep experience with CI build tools such as GitHub Actions, Maven, and Docker, plus automation scripting in Shell or Python
• Experience working in complex projects such as monorepositories
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and deliver impactful solutions in platform-like environments
• Track record of owning and developing engineering processes end-to-end with a DevOps mindset
• Comfort with "you build it, you run it" ownership philosophy for both code and deployment operations
• Experience with developer experience tools, process optimization, and driving AI adoption

Nice to Have:

• Experience designing efficient cross-team operations
• Practical experience with BPMN-based workflow systems
