Senior Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential renewable energy technology client in Leipzig who is building the software infrastructure that coordinates distributed energy assets into intelligent virtual power plants. This is a senior engineering role where your work will directly control how batteries, wind turbines, and solar installations respond to grid conditions and energy markets.

Our talent team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve core control systems that translate energy-market requirements into real-world asset actions. You'll build the distributed services that ensure fleets of renewable assets operate reliably and participate effectively in the electricity system.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed control systems that coordinate fleets of batteries, wind turbines, and solar plants across multiple sites
• Develop services responsible for communicating with physical assets and processing telemetry, status data, and capability information
• Translate complex energy-market and grid requirements into reliable, production-grade software behavior
• Build systems that maintain predictable behavior during device failures, network disruptions, message delays, and temporary asset unavailability
• Create highly observable and resilient services that operate continuously in production environments
• Own your services end-to-end from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operation
• Collaborate closely with energy-market specialists to understand domain requirements and develop pragmatic technical solutions
• Make architectural and technical decisions balancing reliability, scalability, simplicity, and delivery speed
• Mentor other engineers and elevate technical standards across the engineering team

What We're Looking For

• Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving requirements
• Several years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems
• Proven experience designing and architecting distributed systems that operate at scale
• "You build it, you run it" mindset with hands-on familiarity with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Strong backend development experience with Go or another modern programming language (Go is primarily used but prior experience is not required)
• Experience with asynchronous and event-driven architectures; familiarity with NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or MQTT is a plus
• Solid understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases; experience with InfluxDB or Timescale is beneficial
• Clear and confident communication skills in English
