Senior Project Manager BESS

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential energy infrastructure client seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the United Kingdom. Our client is an established player in the renewable energy sector with a strong track record of successful implementations globally.

This role offers the opportunity to manage complex turn-key EPC projects with P&L responsibility up to $30M+ in value. You'll work within a matrixed organization, collaborating with engineering, procurement, finance, and operations teams to deliver projects safely, on-time, and on-budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead turn-key EPC battery energy storage projects from contract execution through successful handover to operations
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and safety/quality plans across multiple concurrent projects
• Oversee contractors and sub-contractors to ensure quality, schedule adherence, and safety compliance on job sites
• Review engineering designs and rapidly resolve technical issues to maintain project delivery standards
• Manage relationships with EPC partners, equipment suppliers, and other stakeholders throughout project delivery
• Coordinate closeout of snags, quality issues, and non-conformances with cross-functional teams
• Work proactively with customers, suppliers, senior management, and sales to meet contract requirements
• Evaluate construction methods to optimize cost-effectiveness and identify value-engineering opportunities
• Oversee budget review, revenue forecasting, and cash flow management with finance team support
• Participate in business improvement initiatives and communicate project plans and changes effectively
• Support contract negotiations with potential contractors and suppliers
• Represent the organization in meetings with utility executives, regulatory officials, and key partners

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, physics, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years' combined experience in project management, construction management, or engineering within the power generation market
• Minimum 3 years P&L responsibility delivering equipment supply or turn-key projects
• At least 1 year managing subcontractor contracts
• Demonstrated experience managing matrix project organizations with 6+ functions
• Valid Senior Project Management certification (PMI PgMP, IPMA Level B, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with electrical equipment codes and standards
• Experience with turn-key energy infrastructure project construction
• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to present to internal and external audiences
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 30% of time
• Business-level English language skills
• Autonomous, pragmatic approach with comfort in fast-paced environments
• Knowledge of DS3 Services, Eirgrid Grid Code, and Single Electricity Market (SEM) is a plus
• Experience delivering projects to Utility customers in Ireland is advantageous
• Energy storage market experience is beneficial but not mandatory
