Senior Product Manager – Special Projects

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing, profitable fintech platform in a confidential search for a Senior Product Manager to lead special projects and new product initiatives. This is a rare opportunity to shape which product areas get built and which teams get formed.

Unlike traditional product management roles that own a single squad, you'll own problems before they have teams. You'll research new opportunities, validate them, build roadmaps, and decide whether each initiative should become a full squad, a lean build, or be handed off. When an area proves large enough, you'll often build and lead that squad yourself.

This role reports to the Head of Product and sits within a lean product organization of 7 PMs. You'll work in a fully remote, documentation-first culture with minimal meetings and maximum autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Own new product areas from zero to one before they have dedicated teams
• Research and validate opportunities: develop theses, size markets, and make build/kill recommendations
• Turn research into shovel-ready work—briefs, prototypes, and specs that engineering teams can execute immediately
• Leverage AI agents to analyze customer feedback, sales conversations, usage data, and competitive intelligence
• Ship clickable prototypes in days to test concepts with real customers
• Drive small-scope projects end-to-end with borrowed engineering resources when a full squad isn't warranted
• Occasionally cover for other product managers during transitions, though your portfolio remains the priority
• Influence which new product areas launch and which teams exist a year from now

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years building and shipping web applications as a designer, engineer, or product manager at technology companies
• At least 2 years taking new products from zero to one
• Proven ability to be the sole owner of initiatives that don't yet have teams
• Comfort managing a portfolio of bets rather than a single product—able to kill your own work when validation fails
• Track record turning ambiguous opportunities into prioritized, actionable roadmaps
• Strong product intuition, design judgment, and technical fluency to collaborate effectively with designers and engineers
• Outstanding written communication skills—you excel in documentation-first, async environments
• Founder, founding PM, or first-product-hire experience strongly preferred
• Located in Canada or the USA
