About the Role

Waters’ Development Engineering team is adding a senior technician to support the creation of next‑generation analytical instruments. You will work closely with engineers and scientists to turn designs into functional prototypes, ensuring that optical, mechanical, and electronic components integrate smoothly in a fast‑paced product development setting.

What You'll Do

  • Assemble, align, and calibrate opto‑mechanical sub‑assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform functional testing, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions on prototype hardware.
  • Maintain detailed build logs, test reports, and version control records to support traceability.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to refine designs based on test findings and feedback.
  • Support documentation efforts, including work instructions and validation protocols.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience assembling and testing optical, mechanical, or electro‑mechanical systems, preferably in a research or development environment.
  • Strong aptitude for using hand tools, precision alignment equipment, and common laboratory instruments.
  • Proficiency with PC‑based data acquisition, basic scripting, or CAD viewing software to aid in build and test processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and bill‑of‑materials.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication abilities for working within multidisciplinary teams and documenting results.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and repeatability.
