Finance Manager, Private Debt

Audax Group is seeking a Finance Manager, Private Debt for a full-time role in Boston, MA. This opportunity centers on high-impact financial reporting, accounting, and valuation support for private debt funds.

About the Role

You will own financial reporting and accounting for Audax Private Debt from Boston while serving as a primary contributor to the valuation process and managing compliance plus control protocols for multiple funds. These funds invest in debt securities of middle-market companies backed by private equity sponsors through a range of vehicles. Close daily work occurs with Valuation, Investor Relations, CLO, FP&A, Tax, and Senior Debt Deal teams. The ideal team member brings self-direction, precision, and the ability to order and complete projects accurately under simultaneous deadlines in a high-tempo setting. As Private Debt continues expanding, the position is expected to evolve with business needs. Located in Boston, MA, this full-time Finance Manager, Private Debt role requires three days per week in the office (subject to change based on business requirements). Massachusetts base salary ranges from $125,000 to $150,000, with potential for annual discretionary incentive compensation tied to performance. What You'll Do

• Create and examine monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, fund-level returns, and investor packages for Private Debt funds
• Partner with Investor Relations on fundraising documents and respond to investor requests covering performance data, fee details, and underlying portfolio financials
• Build monthly and quarterly management analyses of fund performance for senior management
• Advance the valuation process covering debt, equity, and CLO investments
• Review work performed by the fund administrator on Private Debt funds
• Administer assigned funds by calculating, preparing, reviewing, and coordinating capital calls and distributions
• Assist the Tax team with quarterly tax estimates and year-end tax allocations
• Track investment portfolios held by the various Private Debt funds
• Monitor interest payment receipts across the full portfolio
• Manage, monitor, and reconcile daily cash activity with banks
• Lead year-end audited financial preparation and review with the firm’s external auditor
• Provide timely project updates to internal and external stakeholders when needed
• Coach and develop junior team members

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA credential
• Five or more years of experience including public accounting, preferably with alternative investment asset managers
• Extensive experience valuing private equity and private debt investments
• SEC/BDC reporting and CLO background preferred
• Advanced GAAP financial reporting proficiency
• Clear communication skills for senior management and external parties
• Strong organizational ability
• Professional, energetic approach
• Expert Microsoft Office mastery (Excel, Word, others)
• Self-starting capacity for independent and team-based work
• Exemplary leadership skills
• Comfort managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proven consistency delivering quality work on deadline
