Senior Machine Learning Engineer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential hospitality-tech organization seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to work on data-driven improvements in forecasting, pricing logic, and product insights. You will build analyses and models that deliver measurable product impact through rigorous evaluation, solid data foundations, and pragmatic implementation, collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams.

• Model Evolution: Develop and optimize forecasting and pricing models plus data-driven decision logic with a methodical, pragmatic, impact-focused approach.
• Signal Hunting: Work with time series, demand signals, and heterogeneous data sources. Define features and labels cleanly to prevent leakage.
• Measurement & Guardrails: Own evaluation through backtests, robust metrics, and segmentation. Support holdout and A/B testing logic while monitoring offline vs. online performance.
• ML Engineering Best Practices: Set new standards for backtesting, reproducibility, and versioning—prioritizing engineering quality over notebook-only solutions.
• Data Visibility: Build dashboards and reports that transparently display model and business KPIs with a relentless focus on data quality.
• Smart Workflows: Drive reproducible workflows including versioning, clean pipelines, and meaningful tests. Automate recurring analyses and evaluation runs.

What We're Looking For

• Track Record: 4+ years of experience in Data Science or Applied ML Engineering, ideally in a product or business context.
• Data Intuition: Exceptionally strong SQL skills and deep instinct for data quality, debugging, and consistent metrics.
• Python Proficiency: Clean, maintainable Python code and transparent analyses. Experience with production-adjacent setups is a significant plus.
• Experiment Mindset: Strong understanding of bias/leakage awareness and guardrail thinking in offline vs. online scenarios.
• Work Style: Full ownership of your domains. Pragmatic 80/20 approach, reliable execution, and crystal-clear communication.
• Entrepreneurial Spirit: Business-minded with a drive to create real impact.
• Language Skills: Fluent German and good English proficiency required.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience in revenue management or dynamic pricing contexts (e.g., travel, eCommerce, mobility)
• Knowledge of seasonality, events, lead times, and segment patterns
• Hands-on experience with analytics engineering or warehouse tools like dbt, Snowflake, or Metabase
• Practical MLOps and cloud infrastructure experience (e.g., AWS)
