Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing motor insurance technology company that has revolutionized the digital insurance space across multiple European markets. Our client is now expanding their London-based engineering operations and seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their technical core.

This is a hands-on role where you'll define ML development methodologies, productionalize intelligent systems that drive business decisions, and build the tooling infrastructure that empowers your team. You'll work within a collaborative engineering culture of over 350 technologists focused on scalable, data-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

• Define model development methodologies and best practices across the full ML lifecycle, including selection of the technological stack
• Support productionalization and evolution of ML-powered systems that pilot microservice behavior
• Develop critical tools including packages, microservices, and pipelines to support team productivity
• Stay current with emerging ML technologies through continuous learning, reading, and experimentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful, scalable ML solutions

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Strong programming background with demonstrated expertise in Python
• Familiarity with the complete ML model development lifecycle, including production deployment experience
• Proficiency in software development practices such as TDD and BDD, with focus on code quality, readability, and maintainability
• Extensive experience in software architecture and common design patterns
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning, Microservices architecture, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Exceptional English language skills

Nice to Have:

• Experience with version control for data and artifacts (DeltaLake, DVC, MLFlow)
• Expertise designing and operating cloud-based systems, preferably AWS or Databricks
• Familiarity with messaging platforms
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi)
• Understanding of Kubernetes and service mesh concepts
• Previous exposure to data orchestration tools

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive with the London market for senior ML engineering roles.
