Senior IT Architect (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential public-sector technology organization in Germany that is seeking a Senior IT Architect to shape the technical future of healthcare solutions. In this role, you will analyze complex requirements within the statutory health insurance environment and develop secure, scalable, and sustainable IT architectures. You will take technical and professional responsibility for architecture decisions and guide their implementation alongside development teams and stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Developing and designing modern solution architectures for statutory health insurance applications
• Taking ownership of architecture decisions and defining architecture standards and technical guardrails
• Analyzing functional and technical requirements and translating them into future-proof solution designs
• Ensuring IT security, data protection, and compliance requirements in healthcare environments
• Advising project teams and stakeholders on technical matters
• Supporting technical implementation and assisting with complex architecture topics
• Evaluating and introducing suitable technologies, frameworks, and architectural approaches
• Identifying optimization potential in existing system landscapes
• Assessing and deploying innovative technologies such as AI to advance processes and solutions

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a senior-level architect with:

• Strong knowledge of modern software architectures and experience with Java/JEE-based enterprise applications
• Experience in technical design of complex application systems and integration/interface architectures (REST, SOAP)
• Hands-on experience with cloud and container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker
• Solid experience in the German statutory health insurance (GKV) sector with understanding of healthcare industry requirements
• Knowledge of handling sensitive data and regulatory requirements in protected environments
• Excellent German language skills, written and spoken (C2 level)

Nice to have:

• Experience with secure coding, API security, or comparable security standards
• Knowledge of UML modeling, requirements engineering, or architecture methodologies such as iSAQB
• Experience with AI solutions in regulated environments, ideally in healthcare

This is a remote position based in Germany.
