Senior IT Architect (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential public-sector IT organization in Germany that is seeking a Senior IT Architect to shape the technical future of their healthcare solutions. Our client works with statutory health insurance systems and requires someone who can design secure, scalable, and sustainable IT architectures in this regulated environment. This is a remote role based in Germany.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design modern solution architectures for statutory health insurance environments
• Take responsibility for architectural decisions and define architectural standards and technical guardrails
• Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into future-proof solution designs
• Ensure IT security, data protection, and compliance requirements in the healthcare domain
• Advise project teams and stakeholders on technical matters
• Support technical implementation and assist with complex architectural topics
• Evaluate and introduce suitable technologies, frameworks, and architectural approaches
• Identify optimization potential in existing system landscapes
• Assess and deploy innovative technologies including AI to advance processes and solutions

What We're Looking For

• Strong knowledge of modern software architectures and experience with Java/JEE-based enterprise applications
• Experience in technical design of complex application systems and integration/interface architectures (e.g., REST, SOAP)
• Experience with cloud and container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker
• Solid experience working with statutory health insurance systems (GKV) and a strong understanding of healthcare sector requirements
• Knowledge of handling sensitive data and regulatory requirements in protected environments
• Excellent German language skills, both written and spoken (C2 level required)
• Preferred: Experience with secure coding, API security, or comparable security standards; UML modeling, requirements engineering, or architecture methods such as iSAQB; AI solutions in regulated environments, ideally healthcare
