Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Core Systems

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain infrastructure organization seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their Core Systems team. This is a remote-first opportunity available to candidates in Portugal and the USA.

Our client is scaling a global Web3 infrastructure platform that serves billions of requests daily. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll architect and implement next-generation infrastructure across hybrid cloud environments, combining bare-metal, virtualization, and orchestration technologies to power mission-critical blockchain systems.

Responsibilities

• Research, architect, and deploy complex infrastructure systems spanning bare-metal servers, hypervisors, orchestrators, virtual machines, and containerized environments
• Design and implement automation using Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration Management principles with tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Consul
• Establish and maintain infrastructure standards, documentation, and architecture diagrams to support scalability, reliability, and compliance
• Collaborate with Technical Operations, CloudOps, and Platform teams to integrate systems, improve deployment efficiency, and enhance observability
• Optimize resource allocation and infrastructure cost efficiency while maintaining performance and uptime goals
• Drive resilience and scalability improvements through proactive capacity planning, disaster recovery testing, and infrastructure modernization

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Systems Administration, Datacenter Operations, or Infrastructure Engineering with deep expertise in Linux/Unix systems
• Proven track record designing and managing hybrid cloud and traditional infrastructure platforms at scale (bare-metal, virtualized, and cloud-native)
• Hands-on experience with automation, configuration management, and CI/CD tools including Terraform, Ansible, Consul, and Jenkins
• Proficiency with observability and monitoring platforms such as Grafana, ELK, VictoriaMetrics, or DataDog
• Programming experience in one or more languages: Python, Go, or JavaScript
• Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture principles including scalability, redundancy, fault tolerance, and cost optimization
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and networking fundamentals across cloud and datacenter environments
• Proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to deliver under pressure while fostering continuous improvement and reliability
• Excellent communication and documentation skills to facilitate cross-functional engineering collaboration
