Senior Software Engineer (Home Energy)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing climate technology company building critical infrastructure for the energy transition. Our client provides API platforms that connect and optimize distributed energy resources—including EV chargers, batteries, solar systems, heat pumps, and smart meters—enabling energy companies to manage these devices at scale.

As demand for home energy optimization accelerates across Europe, our client needs a Senior Software Engineer to join their Home Energy team. You'll build integrations with leading hardware manufacturers and evolve the API layer that unifies control across batteries, solar inverters, HVAC systems, and smart meters.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain integrations with OEM cloud platforms across batteries, solar inverters, smart meters, and HVAC systems
• Design and evolve home energy APIs that unify telemetry and controls into a cohesive product surface for customers
• Leverage AI tools as a core part of your engineering workflow, sharing learnings and processes with the broader team
• Improve observability and vendor performance monitoring across integrations; participate in the team's triage rotation
• Collaborate with partnership and commercial teams to assess API feasibility for new OEM integrations
• Work closely with customers who rely on the platform, using their feedback to shape product direction alongside product managers
• Debug and ship production features using Node/TypeScript on an AWS-based infrastructure stack
• Balance speed, quality, and customer impact with a product-engineer mindset

What We're Looking For

Core Requirements:

• Proven experience building and maintaining backend services in production environments, ideally with API or integration-heavy systems
• Strong fluency with AI tooling in day-to-day engineering work—you understand where AI accelerates productivity and where human judgment remains essential
• Demonstrated ability to design for reliability, scalability, and performance
• Track record of owning work end-to-end: from scoping ambiguous problems through production rollout and iteration
• Comfort navigating fast-moving environments where clarity emerges through collaboration
• Clear, thoughtful communication across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams
• Product-oriented mindset focused on solving the right problems for customers and teammates
• Excitement about building software with real-world climate impact

Nice to Have:

• Experience with TypeScript/Node, AWS services, PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, or similar production tooling
• Familiarity with home energy assets (batteries, solar systems, HVAC, smart meters), energy markets, or IoT ecosystems
• Prior work on API-first products or integration platforms
• On-call or incident response experience
