Senior Frontend Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential clean energy organization seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join their Flexibility team in London. This is a greenfield opportunity to establish frontend capabilities for a team working at the cutting edge of energy flexibility technology.

As the team's first dedicated frontend engineer, you'll build customer-facing journeys that help users manage low-carbon technology, create internal tools for stakeholders, and develop experimental prototypes. You'll work on products serving millions of users while contributing to renewable energy adoption and system decarbonization.

The role offers hybrid working from London or fully remote within the UK.

Responsibilities

• Establish the team's frontend technical capability and lead frontend technical direction
• Build and own diverse customer-facing user journeys enabling onboarding, control, and analysis of low-carbon technology
• Develop internal-facing interfaces for stakeholder collaboration and experimental prototypes
• Provide WebViews for mobile customer journeys, interfacing with established mobile teams
• Collaborate with internal design teams to integrate designs into the wider design system
• Conduct product discovery with Product Managers and stakeholders across the organization
• Build highly reusable interfaces enabling rapid response to new opportunities

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience with React and TypeScript (required)
• Experience taking problems and developing strong solutions independently
• Confidence owning the full development cycle from requirements gathering through deployment and monitoring
• Ability to tackle large-scale tasks individually
• Empathetic approach to delegating work and collaborating with others
• Experience developing websites meeting strong accessibility guidelines
• Track record building scalable, performant sites handling high traffic volumes
• Desirable: Next.js on Vercel, GraphQL with Tanstack Query, React Testing Library, vitest, msw
• Desirable: energy domain knowledge
• Must be based in the UK
