Senior Data Scientist – Real-Time Esports Predictions (m/f/x)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential esports analytics organization seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead predictive modeling initiatives. In this role, you will:

• Lead research and development of machine learning models and statistical frameworks that power real-time prediction systems for competitive gaming
• Design and optimize advanced feature engineering pipelines, extracting predictive signals from high-frequency telemetry data and transforming complex mechanics into structured modeling features
• Build state-of-the-art models with a focus on performance and probability calibration, designing rigorous backtesting frameworks to prevent data leakage and evaluate against historical baselines
• Develop mathematical rules and probabilistic derivations that translate baseline probabilities into complex derivative markets including handicaps, totals, and specialty predictions
• Deploy production-grade real-time systems, ensuring seamless translation of models into live pipelines and microservices

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of professional experience in data science, quantitative research, or statistical modeling
• Deep, intuitive understanding of probability, statistics, and machine learning theory with advanced mathematical foundations
• Expert-level Python proficiency across the data science stack, with ability to write clean, production-grade code
• Proven experience designing complex backtesting environments and defining custom evaluation metrics for unique business problems

Nice to Have:

• Deep knowledge of competitive esports (CS2, Dota 2, League of Legends), underlying game mechanics, and competitive meta
• Experience modeling streaming data or continuously updating high-frequency data
• Understanding of modern MLOps principles and experience with tools like MLFlow, Airflow, or similar frameworks

Location: Berlin or 100% remote anywhere in Europe
