About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist in our Business & Data Analytics team at UnitedHealth Group, you'll lead the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions. Your work will span healthcare delivery, pharmacy benefits optimisation, and clinical decision support—technologies that connect millions of people with the care and resources they need to achieve better health. This is a full-time position based in Tamil Nadu, India, where you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex healthcare data into actionable insights that drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Develop and operationalise Python-based machine learning models to solve healthcare-critical business challenges
• Design end-to-end AI/ML pipelines—from data preparation and feature engineering through model validation and deployment
• Analyse large-scale healthcare datasets to uncover patterns, opportunities, and insights that inform strategic decisions
• Lead exploratory data analysis and statistical modelling to support pharmacy benefits, care coordination, and clinical outcomes initiatives
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and clinical teams to translate insights into scalable, production-grade solutions
• Evaluate model performance, implement improvements, and document findings for stakeholder communication

Who We're Looking For

• Advanced proficiency in Python for data science, machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch), and statistical analysis
• Proven experience building, validating, and deploying machine learning models in production environments
• Strong foundation in data manipulation, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis
• Demonstrated ability to work with large, complex healthcare or similar industry datasets
• Experience with cloud platforms and tools for model training and deployment
• Excellent communication skills—comfortable translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Problem-solving mindset and intellectual curiosity about AI/ML applications in real-world contexts
