Senior Data Engineer – Real time analytics

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology client in their search for a Senior Data Engineer to join their Analytics & Data Platform team in London. This is a key technical role working on real-time analytics infrastructure that serves thousands of global customers.

You'll be building and optimizing streaming data platforms that unlock real-time insights and power mission-critical analytical capabilities. This position offers the chance to solve complex data challenges at scale within a fast-growing, product-driven organization.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable, low-latency streaming platform solutions to provide near real-time data capabilities
• Analyze and translate business requirements into optimized data models for big data environments
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize queries for improved efficiency
• Write clean, scalable code using Scala, Python, and SQL; test and deploy applications to production
• Architect optimal data solutions utilizing structured and unstructured data sources
• Contribute to engineering initiatives focused on delivering secure, scalable solutions
• Participate in platform performance optimization and live site monitoring
• Mentor team members through actionable feedback and knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or mathematics
• 3+ years of experience with near real-time analytics platforms
• 5+ years of experience with modern programming languages including Scala, Python, Go, or TypeScript
• Proven experience designing complex data processing pipelines
• Strong background in data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) in AWS Redshift
• Demonstrated expertise in query optimization techniques
• Experience with Kafka is a plus
• Track record of shipping and maintaining production code
• Collaborative mindset with openness to sharing ideas and receiving feedback

Technical environment: AWS ecosystem (Kinesis, Kafka, S3, DMS, Glue, EMR, EKS, Redshift, Spectrum), Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, Airflow, GitLab-based continuous deployment
