Senior Data Engineer – Real time analytics

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Analytics & Data Platform team in Paris. Our client operates a large-scale customer communications platform serving thousands of users globally, and this role will be instrumental in building and optimizing their real-time analytics infrastructure.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and deliver low-latency streaming solutions that unlock data value for end users through real-time insights, monitoring, and comprehensive analytical reports. You'll work with modern cloud technologies and big data frameworks to solve complex data challenges at scale.

Responsibilities

• Drive requirements analysis, solution design, and end-to-end delivery of scalable, low-latency streaming platform modules for near real-time data solutions
• Analyze and translate business needs into optimized data models suitable for big data environments
• Identify and optimize slow queries to improve performance across the analytics stack
• Write clean, scalable code using Scala, Python, and SQL; test and deploy applications to production
• Solve challenging data problems in near real-time using optimal architectures, frameworks, and query techniques across structured and unstructured data sources
• Deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions as part of the engineering organization
• Participate in product and platform performance optimization and live site monitoring
• Mentor team members through actionable feedback and knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Mathematics
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with near real-time analytics systems
• 5+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as Scala, Python, Go, or TypeScript
• Proven experience designing complex data processing pipelines
• Strong background in data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling, etc.) within AWS Redshift
• Demonstrated expertise in query optimization
• Experience with Kafka is a plus
• Track record of shipping and maintaining production code
• Collaborative mindset with openness to sharing ideas and receiving feedback

Technical Environment: AWS (Kinesis, Kafka, S3, DMS, Glue, EMR, EKS, Redshift, Spectrum), Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, Airflow, GitLab-based continuous deployment
