Senior Application Developer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a Senior Application Developer to join their corporate payments technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, enhance, and support high-volume financial applications critical to transaction processing and business operations.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting custom applications and configurations for corporate application systems
• Leading complex development efforts for high-volume transaction processing and financial services applications
• Managing and guiding coding logic, including conducting and supporting code reviews
• Working independently on assigned development, enhancement, support, and maintenance tasks
• Analyzing user requirements and translating them into application designs, system modifications, and technical solutions
• Planning, investigating, and proposing systems and application solutions to support business needs
• Preparing workflows and technical documentation for writing, testing, and maintaining computer programs
• Encoding, testing, debugging, and installing programs and procedures in coordination with operations and infrastructure teams
• Correcting, testing, and documenting changes to existing programs and production applications
• Supporting existing applications by troubleshooting issues, resolving defects, and implementing enhancements
• Communicating effectively with product management, project management, operations, infrastructure, and business stakeholders
• Conducting training, walkthroughs, and presentations for users, stakeholders, and technical teams as needed
• Leading or mentoring small development teams on complex application development initiatives

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of hands-on application development experience
• Bachelor's degree or professional degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• Experience supporting business-critical applications in a high-volume transaction processing or financial services environment
• Strong ability to work independently and partner closely with business and technical teams
• Agile project management or Agile software development experience

Must-Have Technical Skills:

• COBOL
• CICS
• JCL
• SQL
• DB2
• IBM Mainframe environment
• TSO / ISPF

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge or experience with MQ Series, EXCI, XML, SCLM, IBM Debug, MicroFocus Revolve, or Tivoli
• Hands-on experience with object-oriented languages or frameworks such as Java, C#, JEE, or.NET
• Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle
• Exposure to web technologies such as HTML or JavaScript
• Experience with integrated development environments such as RDz, Eclipse, or Microsoft Visual Studio
• Advanced degree such as an MBA or MS
