About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Medication Assistance Coordinator to join their pharmacy services team. This remote position plays a critical role in helping patients navigate medication financial assistance programs while supporting the organization's revenue cycle operations. You'll serve as the bridge between patients, financial advisors, and clinical teams to ensure access to necessary medications through copay assistance and free drug programs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate pharmacy medication assistance activities including regulatory compliance, automation, medication access programs, and daily workflow coordination
- Manage patient applications for copay assistance and free drug programs, providing excellent customer service throughout the process
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
- Participate in orientation, education, and training coordination for pharmacy staff, residents, and students
- Maintain alignment with pharmacy and health system standards across multiple locations
- Utilize computer systems with advanced proficiency, including specialized pharmacy and financial assistance platforms
- Identify opportunities for process improvement using lean principles and the "plan, do, check, act" methodology
- Communicate effectively with patients and all internal stakeholders regarding medication assistance needs
- Demonstrate accountability and ownership for departmental success and patient outcomes
- Provide coverage for technician staffing shifts as needed
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to achieve departmental goals
- Maintain flexibility to cross-cover duties and adapt to changing organizational needs
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in a comparable external pharmacy setting, OR 2+ years as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or health system environment
- Active Pharmacy Technician Registration with State Board of Pharmacy (Kansas and/or Missouri, per work state)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or equivalent national certification, with ongoing maintenance of certification and continuing education requirements
- Basic keyboarding skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Excellent time management, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate complex financial assistance requirements clearly
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain productivity standards
- Experience with financial clearance and assistance policies and procedures
Preferred: Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) or other advanced certification applicable to practice area
